Our partner, TIUS LLC, has successfully implemented a temperature control system for drying the castable refractory lining of blast furnace troughs. The project was implemented using Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) technologies and LoRaWAN wireless data transmission.
The system is implemented as a portable cabinet with a built-in data logger to which temperature sensors are connected. Integration with the LoRaWAN network is also provided using SI-23 modems manufactured by Vega-Absolute.
Thanks to this solution, high-quality lining drying is ensured through precise compliance with the schedule established in accordance with the process specification.

Main objectives of the project:

  • Improving the quality and durability of the blast furnace trough lining

  • Compliance with the drying schedule in accordance with the process specification

  • Storing temperature schedule data in the server database and data logger for monitoring and analysis

Work performed:

  • Designed a portable system module taking into account weight and transportation requirements; implemented as a cabinet and a stand for it

  • Assembly, programming, testing, and debugging of the system were performed

  • Integration with the enterprise IoT server for data collection and storage was performed

Project results:

  • Improved quality of blast furnace trough lining installation

  • Simplified control over the drying process, increased durability of the trough lining

  • Implemented the ability to remotely monitor and manage the drying process, as well as analyze it and verify compliance with the process schedule
